About the Scholarship
The Miles Philip Hammond Scholarship is a 100% Tuition covered scholarship to one of the 2-year diploma Portfolio programs offered by Miami Ad School Toronto, developed in partnership with Broken Heart Love Affair and Lifelong Crush.
The deserving recipient will be a potential student who has persevered, endured, and ultimately, overcome their struggles. Because advertising is best crafted by people with diverse backgrounds. Even the challenging ones.

This scholarship is in honour of Miles – a one-year-old boy from Muskoka who lost his battle to cancer in February of 2021. Miles remained positive, good-natured, and trusting, while inspiring those around him with his grit and grace. Miles is deeply missed by everyone who knew him, and his memory and legacy will continue live on in our hearts.
The chosen recipient of the Scholarship must have experienced significant trials in their life while demonstrating positivity and inspiring those around them- in short, they will possess many of the same qualities as Miles. This Scholarship is one of the many ways in which Miles’ legacy will continue to impact others.

Miles’ Story
Miles Philip Hammond was a one-year-old boy from Muskoka who lost his battle to cancer in February of 2021. Miles was a happy, smiley baby who brought immense joy to all who had the privilege of meeting him. Throughout his short life, Miles encountered significant challenges, including multiple rounds of chemotherapy and the amputation of his right foot. Despite this adversity, Miles remained positive, good-natured, and trusting, continually inspiring those around him with his grit and grace. Miles is deeply missed by everyone who knew him, and his memory and legacy will continue to have ripple effects in this world.

Who is Eligible?
The Miles Philip Hammond Scholarship is for targeted towards domestic disadvantaged students who require financial assistance.
When Can I Start?
The Miles Philip Hammond Scholarship is applicable to the Spring 2024 (April 8th) and Summer 2024 (July 8th) start dates at the school.
How do I Apply?

Are There Additional Requirements ?
Yes, applicants must demonstrate proof of financial need, and complete the creative assignment submission, as well as complete an interview with the Hammond Family, if shortlisted.

Our recipients not only get tuition covered for the 2 year program at M.AD, they also receive guidance, mentorship and hands-on internships where they get to collaborate and work on real briefs for real clients. By placing these students at top-tier agencies in Toronto, they are embedded within the creative department as copywriters or art directors – learning what it’s truly like to work in the industry before even graduating.

When Can I Start?
The Miles Philip Hammond Scholarship is applicable to the Spring 2024 (April 8th – June 14th) and Summer 2024 (July 8th – September 13th) start dates at the M.AD Toronto school.
Do I Need Any Pre-Existing Credentials (Courses, Certifications)?
No, you don’t need any pre-existing credentials. You must however apply with M.AD Toronto for either Art Direction & Copywriting for the April 2024 or July 2024 cohort.
Can I Postpone My Start Date?
No, students are required to commit to starting either on April 8th, 2024, or July 8th, 2024.
Do I Have To Be In Canada To Be Eligible?
No, you don’t have to physically be in Canada. However, you must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible for this scholarship.
Is There An Age Requirement?
There is no age requirement for the scholarship, however to be considered for admissions to M.AD Toronto, you must be 16 or older.
Are There Additional Requirements?
Yes, applicants may be required to prove the validity of their application by providing financial statements or other additional requested evidence.
Will My Flight + Accommodations Be Covered?
Only the tuition for the full-time program of your choice at M.AD Toronto is covered. Selected Winners are responsible for their own laptop, accommodations, flights, meals, etc.
Do I Need An Undergraduate Degree or Post Graduate Education To Be Eligible?
No, a previous undergraduate degree or post-graduate experience are not mandatory to be eligible for one of our full-time programs.
Are The Programs Virtual Or In-Person?
Selected winners will have the option of online education or in-person classes.
Do I Pay An Application Fee To Apply To M.AD Toronto?
To apply for the scholarship, you are not required to pay initial application fees to M.AD Toronto. But you will only be accepted without admission fees if you are a selected recipient of the scholarship.
I Took A Single Class at M.AD Toronto, But I Was Never A Full time Student, Do I Qualify?
Yes, but only if you have taken less than 4 single classes at M.AD Toronto.
Can I Include Photos In My Essay Submission?
Yes, photos are accepted and encouraged. Remember to be creative.
Do I Have To Be Accepted Into A Full-Time Program While Applying To The Scholarship?
No, but to be eligible to compete for this scholarship you must apply to M.AD Toronto through www.miamiadschool.ca/apply or your scholarship application will not be considered.
Do I Have To Demonstrate Creativity During The Interview?
A passion for creativity is required for this program, but we encourage you to showcase your personality and positive attitude during the interview. Our intention is to get to get to know you better. Just be yourself!
Will All Applicants Get To Be Interviewed?
No, only shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview. More information will be provided in the invitation.
Can I Transfer This Scholarship To Any Other M.AD School Location?
No, this is only valid for M.AD Toronto. Please reach out to other campuses separately to inquire on available scholarships for their specific campus.
Will I Be Disqualified If My Video Submission Is Over 5 Minutes?
No, however any content that goes past the 5-min time mark may not be considered.
