The Founders of Miami Ad School
This global network of schools is hardly a mom & pop operation, but there is a Mom & Dad of Miami Ad School. Ron & Pippa Seichrist gave birth to this innovative concept in 1993 and are still very involved in the constant evolution of the school. We partner with the industry to create the most unique portfolio program possible that reflects the latest needs of global advertising agencies and brands. The atmosphere is a little kooky, but when you walk into a Miami Ad School anywhere in the world, you’ll feel at home. You’ll be surrounded by friendly people gathered in small groups brainstorming ideas or concepting over a game of ping pong. Chances are you’ll also be met by a happy wagging dog. As a student, you enter a very large, close family and graduate over prepared with a great portfolio and global, real-world experience.
Our Toronto Team
Founder + Managing Director
After graduating from Miami Ad School in 2009, Aman felt Toronto needed a school just like it! Since 2014, he’s been working with the ministry to start the Canadian chapter, which launched in 2016. Before pursuing his passion for entrepreneurship, he held positions at Taxi, CP+B and R/GA, working on brands like Vitaminwater, Mercedes-Benz and Nike as an Art Director.
Creative Chairman + Instructor
Stephen graduated from OCAD in 1988, and over the next 10 years established himself as one of Canada’s top art directors. He was named Creative Director of Ammirati & Puris (with creative partner Angus Tucker) before leaving to start john st. Stephen has championed john st.’s emergence as a digital leader in social, interactive and mobile. He has chaired the Marketing Awards, the Bessies, Strategy magazine’s Shift Disturbers conference, and served on the jury at Cannes 2009. Stephen loves, in no particular order, his son, his dog, Batman comic books, and his wife Eva.
Co-Founder + Admissions
The Co-Founder of our Toronto chapter, Muneet is our MTCU specialist who keeps us all running. If you’re a student you’ll most likely connect with her first because she knows everything there is to know about Miami Ad School, really, ask her anything. She’s also the guinea pig for all experiments in-house because of a ‘lets get this sh*t done’ attitude. A graduate of the Business Management program at Ryerson University but the stellar memory comes from a past life doing a Bachelor of Science for Biology.
Shelley’s won several Cannes Lions, Clios, D&AD, and Strategy awards. She’s worked on campaigns such as: “Where Am I” for Ontario Tourism and NBATM for BMO. She has directly shaped such brands as: BMO, OLG, Molson Canadian, IKEA, Visa, Unilever.
Umar is an award-winning strategist who helps businesses grow in complex and connected environments. He has worked with some of the best brands in the world including Coca-Cola, Mercedes-Benz, Nestle and Westjet. He is passionate about education and learning. He holds an undergraduate degree in Economics and an MBA in Marketing. He enjoys tea and writing in third person.
Digital Creative Lead
Chad is a Creative Director at SapientRazorfish, working to digitally transform clients’ business, and is also the President of the Advertising and Design Club of Canada. Chad’s passion is creating emotional connections with consumers, as well as finding ways to help this amazing community we all work in.
Chelsea’s passion for brand strategy paired with her background in social media has helped her uncover product and human truths for a number of clients. Her experience spans across several industries, working on brands like Coca-Cola, Mercedes-Benz, RBC and Expedia. Outside of Grip Limited and Miami Ad School, she spends her time volunteering, laughing (a lot) and drinking wine (a little). Ask her about her book club(s).
Community + Event Manager
Born and raised in Creemore village (Yes, home of the brewery) Terra moved to the big city after finishing a professional writing degree at UWaterloo and attended GBC for Sport & Event Marketing. Her work has since been categorized as one part digital producer, one part event coordinator and one part copywriter working on the side as the digital manager and voice of non-profit organization Giants of Africa. When she isn’t glued to a phone or running around posting stories and hashtagging, she’s either skiing, painting gigantic canvases or playing ridiculous amounts of ping pong.
Graphic Designer + Content Creator
Andrew graduated from the YSDN program in Design at York University and Sheridan College in 2014, and has since tried to wear as many hats as he can: Designer, Videographer, Editor, Artist and Photographer to name a few. Usually fuelled by black coffee and the determination to create something new everyday, he bounces from one creative project to the next as a visual storyteller. When Andrew is not working, you might find him drinking craft beer on a canoe in the middle of a lake somewhere.
Intern + Artist in Residence
Carri is currently in the RTA Media Productions program at Ryerson University. She enjoys filmmaking and her short film was nominated for the Youth Emerging Artist Award at the 2016 Toronto Youth Shorts Film Festival. Although the youngest on the team, she nonetheless carries the same enthusiastic and positive attitude contained in the rest of the Miami Ad School family. With the exception of the Founders waving their index fingers before her during drinking occasions. The situation will be resolved in April 2017.
